More and more often, we’ve been able to let Loki run loose in our yard.
He can get a little crazy, and there’s something utterly terrifying about seeing such a huge animal come running straight for you at full-speed. Or maybe it’s just me: He barreled right into me once. I don’t recommend the experience.
But at least now, when it’s time to head inside, we can count on having Loki come to us when we call him instead of heading off in search of adventure — and mud.
We can even get him to leave the compost pile, and all of its enticing scents.
The secret of this incredible feat of dog training: peanut butter.
For peanut butter — and he knows the word — Loki will abandon all other pursuits, race to me feet and sit absolutely still until I reward him.
I love peanut butter.
